Introduction
 
We are looking for a full-time Maintenance Planner to join either our Saskatoon, Regina, or Calgary team! This position will report to the Director, Mining and Minerals. We have multiple opportunities across Canada. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply.
 
The Maintenance Planner supports maintenance readiness, commissioning, and the transition into steady‑state operations for the client’s project. This role provides expert maintenance planning, scheduling, and reliability support to ensure assets, processes, and systems are fully prepared for operational handover. The Maintenance Planner collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop maintenance strategies, validate CMMS data, and establish the foundational maintenance programs required for safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Position Overview

Main Duties
Maintenance Readiness & Commissioning Support


  • Serve as a maintenance consultant during maintenance readiness, commissioning, and the transition into steady‑state operations.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans, strategies, and readiness deliverables aligned with the client’s maintenance standards, asset strategies, and commissioning milestones.
  • Provide maintenance expertise to support the setup, validation, and implementation of maintenance processes, workflows, and CMMS data structures prior to handover.
  • Participate in commissioning planning sessions to ensure maintenance requirements are embedded in system start‑up, handover packages, and asset acceptance.
  • Evaluate maintenance plans and commissioning schedules to minimize work interruptions and support a safe, reliable operational ramp‑up.

Planning, Scheduling & Reliability


  • Prepare preventive and predictive maintenance plans, job packages, and schedules aligned with reliability frameworks and operational readiness goals.
  • Review maintenance schedule compliance, identify risks, and escalate health and safety concerns in accordance with the client’s safety management system.
  • Conduct job scoping, estimating labor hours, tools, materials, and resources required for work execution.
  • Recommend schedule adjustments to accommodate emergent work during commissioning and early operations.
  • Support coordination of planned downtimes to reduce mean time between failures and minimize impacts to commissioning and production schedules.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration


  • Act as the primary liaison between Maintenance, Operations, Commissioning, Engineering, and Supply teams to ensure alignment and timely information flow.
  • Lead communication between maintenance and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient, high‑quality service delivery.
  • Support the establishment of job goals, performance expectations, and competency requirements for the maintenance workforce.
  • Provide insights into potential labor shortages or surpluses during commissioning and ramp‑up.

Materials, Spares & Documentation


  • Assist in planning and optimizing spare parts, materials, and tooling required for commissioning and early operations.
  • Prepare and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance checklists, job plans, and standardized procedures aligned with the client’s global maintenance standards.
  • Validate asset data, BOMs, and maintenance strategies loaded into the CMMS prior to go‑live.

Other Responsibilities


  • Travel to site as required to support commissioning, field verification, and maintenance readiness activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support successful commissioning and transition to operations.

Qualifications


  • Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Engineering background, Journeyperson certification, or equivalent relevant education.
  • 10+ years of maintenance experience, ideally including commissioning, maintenance readiness, or early‑stage operations.
  • Experience with:
  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Shift planning software
  • Project management tools
  • Asset tracking solutions
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Exposure to reliability‑based maintenance processes and industry best practices.
  • Experience in mining, heavy industry, or large‑scale industrial environments is a strong asset.
  • Experience in potash or underground mining is an advantage.

Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.
