Introduction
We are looking for a permanent full-time Jr. Mechanical Designer to join either our Saskatoon, Regina, or Calgary team! This position will be reporting to the Mechanical Design Supervisor.

Position Overview
Primary Responsibilities
- Create 3D CAD models (mechanical, structural, and layout) for brown- and green-field projects in March’s strategic areas of practice (mining, clean energy, manufacturing, and indigenous infrastructure)
- Create general arrangement & detail drawings for piping, material handling equipment, dust collection
- Interpret engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for piping, process equipment, material handling equipment, dust collection, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems (HVAC), and structural systems (e.g. buildings, plants, trestles, platforms and concrete)
- Assist in the design and routing of piping, layout of process and material handling equipment, structural supports, supporting structures, HVAC equipment layout, and the corresponding general arrangement
- Assist in the preparation of proposal documents, bill of materials, and cost estimates
- Assist in inspecting mechanical installations and construction
- Conduct site visits as required to take field measurements and gather relevant site/project information
- Maintain efficient inter-disciplinary communication
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Formal education and training in mechanical drafting and design from a recognized institution
- Experience or proficiency in 3D modeling in Autodesk software packages such as AutoCAD
- Hands-on experience in one of the following modelling and drafting software is considered an asset: AutoCAD Plant3D, AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Navisworks, AVEVA E3D, Inventor or similar
- Experience in creating piping and structural models and drawings is considered an asset
- Working knowledge in material handling of bulk solids
- Detail-oriented with a passion to create high-quality deliverables
- Experience in the mining industry and/or experience in heavy industrial work with brown- and green-field projects
- Must be comfortable working in a mining/heavy industrial environment to gather information and attend site meetings
- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment

Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.
