We are looking for a permanent full-time Piping Engineer to join either our Saskatoon, Regina, or Calgary team! This position will be reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead.

Position Overview

Piping Engineers are responsible for designing and building the piping systems that carry our water, gas, oil, and waste. They are involved in every aspect of the creation of these piping systems. Piping Engineers first draw the blueprints for the system, and then they assist in selecting the materials that will be used to build the pipes and accompanying components.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design and analysis of piping systems and components that are typically used in the heavy industrial sector
  • Performing calculations for pump sizing and selection
  • Creation of piping and pump specifications and datasheets
  • Working with designers to create piping isometric drawings and general layouts
  • Collaborating with the structural team to create pipe racks and pipe support drawings
  • Providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Technical bid evaluations
  • Review of project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy
  • Other general mechanical engineering duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Degree or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-8 years of progressive piping and pump engineering work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of piping stress analysis and hydraulic modelling
  • Direct working knowledge of piping software such as AFT Fathom, AutoPIPE, and Caesar
  • Familiarity with the following piping codes/standards: ASME codes such as b31.1 (Power Piping) and 31.3 (Process Piping), as well as ANSI/HI standards (from the Hydraulic Institute)
  • Experience with tank sizing, design and repair (e.g., API codes) is considered a very strong asset
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada, with ability to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan
  • Mining, mineral processing, or similar industrial experience is considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.

Work hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
