Introduction

We are looking for a full-time Civil Engineer to join either our Saskatoon, Regina, or Calgary team! This position will report to the Civil/Strcutural Discipline Lead. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply.

The Civil Engineer is responsible for providing civil engineering expertise for the planning, designing, and execution of infrastructure and site development projects within mining, industrial, and related sectors. This role develops civil engineering solutions for site layouts, roads, drainage systems, water management systems, ponds, ditches, and containment structures while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and project requirements. The Civil Engineer works closely with clients, multidisciplinary project teams, geotechnical specialists, surveyors, and contractors to develop construction specifications, review technical designs, evaluate construction materials, and support project planning and execution.

This role also provides field support, participates in feasibility and economic studies, assists with tender evaluations and contract administration, and reviews the work of junior engineers and technical staff. Through strong technical expertise, effective communication, and collaboration, the Civil Engineer contributes to the successful delivery of safe, practical, and high-quality engineering solutions that meet client and organizational objectives.

Position Overview

Primary Responsibilities

Confer with clients and other members of the engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirements.
Plan and design major civil projects such as overall site planning, roads, secondary containments, ponds, ditches, drainage, water, and waste management systems.
Develop civil construction specifications and procedures.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate construction materials.
Review geotechnical reports and work with the structural engineers to determine the most appropriate structural foundation(s) Interpret, review, and approve survey and civil design work.
Conduct field services for civil works.
Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of the Canadian codes and other regulations.
Establish and monitor construction work schedules.
Conduct and/or participate in feasibility studies, economic analyses, traffic studies, environmental impact studies or other investigations.
Act as project or site supervisor for land survey or construction work.
Prepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projects.
Supervise technicians, technologists and junior engineers and review and approve civil designs, calculations, and cost estimates.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or in a related engineering discipline is required with 4-8 years of experience.
Licensing by APEGS or another Canadian province is required.
Recent experience in the heavy industrial mining or oil and gas sectors is considered an asset.
Experience working with Geographic Information System Software such as ArcGIS, and other modelling software such as AutoCAD civil 3D, and MicroStation.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.
Maintain efficient interdisciplinary and client communication.

Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.
